Greetings from Wetlands International. 

Wetlands International and the Wetlands and Livelihoods Working Group
are pleased to announce the Wetlands, Water and Livelihoods Workshop
to be held in January 30 - February 2, 2006, in St. Lucia,
KwaZulu-Natal, SOUTH AFRICA.

The purpose of this workshop is to strengthen the understanding
between wetlands and their role in supporting and sustaining the
livelihoods of people. By bringing both the conservation and
development sectors together the workshop aims to create and reinforce
the necessary partnerships among government, non-government, private,
academic, environment and development organizations to improve the
conservation of wetlands and human wellbeing. The results from this
workshop will provide direction and identify priorities for Wetlands
International's recently-launched 4-year Wetlands and Poverty
Reduction Project. The project's activities are largely focused on
Sub-Saharan Africa and are designed to catalyse the mainstreaming of
wetlands in structural poverty reduction through policy improvements,
partnership development, demonstration projects, training and capacity
development and awareness raising and outreach.

Wetlands International would like to kindly ask you the possibility of
announcing this workshop via ANSTI website in the "news" section. Let
us know if this is possible. Although the workshop announcement is
already in our website, we suspect there will be a good cross sector
of people in the region that we might be still missing. Thus using
ANSTI network might be a good cross-sectoral informative path to get
the workshop widely known. Attached you can find both the final
announcement of the workshop and its poster.
